Hello everyone,
One of the aims of my blog is to raise awareness of all the conditions I suffer with. One of these being Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS). IBS is not a topic I have covered on my blog yet, so what better way than to kick start this topic of with a poem about living with it.
For those of you, who know don’t know IBS is a lifelong common condition that affects the digestive system. Pain tends to come and go and sufferers can be bound to but not limited to: stomach cramps, bloating, constipation and diarrhoea.
The Devil Disorder in Disguise
Irritable Bowl Syndrome, a devil disorder in disguise,
One minute, I leak out diarrhoea and the next constipated like an inflated balloon.
The truth .is the torment and torture of Irritable Bowl Syndrome never dies.
Although, discretely hidden from others – So I am not treated like some sort of lune.
Now, I am ready to open up and speak,
Even if this poem is going to get a poor and gross critique.
Every time after I eat, I worry if someone will ask “When is the baby due?”
Especially, when I am waiting in the long women’s toilet queue.
I often smoke to try and open up my bowels,
But sometimes it aggravates my colons and all is heard an outburst of growls.
No more dairy nor gluten – Doctors orders.
However, sometimes the rules are broken to get some instant relief.
My relationship with food is complicated, especially when travelling across boarders.
I know I must stop and be careful what I eat,
As in future, certain foods will cause more stomach pain and long-lasting grief.
Irritable Bowl Syndrome also makes me nervous about intimacy,
Life is a guy knew I had it, he would scourer me up and down critically.
I hate that burping and farting is out of my control,
Yes I am unladylike, I will fully admit it I know.
However, this is a lifelong condition I have learnt to accept,
Anyone else who can’t, is not worth my time and must be sidestepped.
Sharing is Caring
